Intro to Rovers

Rovers in Tasmania

From the Tasmanian Rovers Website:

"Rover Scout, n. a male or female Homo sapien aged between 18 and 26 years old, dedicated to fun and adventure, whilst serving the community in the Scouting way. Rovers are the oldest Youth Section in the Scouting Movement and open to young men and women aged between 18 and 26 years of age.

By taking part in the many opportunities available to you as a Rover you will experience fun, fellowship and personal growth - there's no need to have had any previous involvement with Scouting, or any prior outdoor activities experience. Rovers meet as a Crew and can open the door to a world of adventure, excitement, challenge and achievement.

These include outdoor activities such as bush walking, rafting, canoeing, sailing, caving, 4-wheel driving, rock-climbing, and camping can all form part of a Rover's calendar. There are also social activities such as balls, reunions, nights out, car rallies, and ‘Moots’ (gatherings of Rovers on a local, national, and even international level) that also feature on an active Rover's program. In Tasmania we have 7 Rover Crews in most of the major population areas of Tasmania. Each Crew is different and chooses the activities that suit its members the most. These activities offer you the opportunity to mix socially, push yourself physically, challenge yourself mentally and develop spiritually. Tasmanian Rovers meet regularly throughout the year for our own state moots as well as other events involving the other sections of the Scouting movement. Rovers or their equivalent can also be found in many countries throughout the world, offering the opportunity to make great contacts when traveling and take part in international projects. There’s also the Australian National Moots which are the equivalent of Jamborees for Rovers.”
